Year 6: Residential TRIP

PGL Activity Centre - Liddington, Wiltshire

The aims of the school trip are to:

  • Encourage independence in the children

  • Give the children a learning experience of going away with other people

  • Meet their geography curriculum expectations

  • Provide them with a cross-curricular experience

  • Encourage them to think about budgeting their own money.

Year 6 parents are invited to attend a meeting with Mr Chamberlin to find out more about our annual Year 6 residential. The trip for our current Year 6s is in September 2022.

We are currently reviewing arrangement for the trip for the current Year 5 children and will contact Year 5 parents once details are confirmed.

If you require support

If your child is in receipt of Free School Meals, or is eligible for the Pupil Premium Grant, we can work with you to generate additional support from local charities to help cover costs. Please contact the school office in confidence, as soon as possible, where Mrs Steans or Mr Chamberlin will be able to support you.

The Hampton Fund (Hampton Fuel Allotment Charity)

The Hampton Fund supports individuals and families on low income with a grant to help with the costs of gas and electricity; as well as for voluntary sector organisations to provide services and activities for people in need. Their area of benefit covers the following areas within Richmond upon Thames:

  • Hampton

  • Hampton Hill

  • Hampton Wick

  • Teddington

  • Twickenham

  • Whitton

In addition to supporting families with their energy costs, the charity considers applications from families who may require additional support with paying for their residential school journey.

If you currently:

  • Work part time or are on a low wage

  • Receive state benefits

  • Receive help with your rent or council tax

  • And/or your children receive free school meals

you may qualify for their support.

Many St John’s families have benefitted from the charity’s generous support, so if you currently meet one or more of these conditions, please follow the link below to download and complete an application form. The form needs to be stamped by the school in order for the charity to consider the application, so please ensure you ask a member of the School Office team to stamp your completed form, before sending it to the charity.
